Does Our Education System Need to Change?

Education debate in the USA is increasingly polarized. Some people think that the education system is failing the children. While others think that people trying to fix the “problems” are to be blamed. Nevertheless, it is quite apparent today that the education system is unable to meet the requirements of the hyper-connected society.

If you are writing a paper on the current education scenario in the States, you can highlight the points mentioned below. And, if you are unable to gather the necessary resources, you can take the help of the professional paper writers.

Noticeable Issues in the Education System

In this section, let us check out the prominent issues that are standing in the way of America regaining its former pre-eminence.

Age-Old Ideology and Poor Funding

The education system has become stagnant. The TAG program often separates the student peers based on their academic performance and abilities. This creates a rift in the classroom, and the ideology has become a monotone, unattractive aspect of contemporary American schools.

Moreover, the academic curriculum has almost remained unchanged for years. As per a report from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, 34 states are contributing less funding to each student. As a result, K-12 public school spending is quite less. If the funding is less, then one cannot expect higher high school graduation rates or closing of achievement gaps.

Technology- A Major Spoilsport

When Internet access was granted to the students, it seemed as if it was going to revolutionize the education system. But the anti-reformers were right in this case. Today, the Internet and other technological options have become synonymous with entertainment. Students spend hours going through social media accounts. Not to forget that students take advantage by indulging in academic dishonesty and other malpractices.

On the other hand, parents download educational games as soon as kids have the dexterity to operate a touch screen. Thus, the teachers find it difficult to keep up in the classroom setting as the technology-savvy varies, resulting in a disparity. Furthermore, there is a dearth in assistive technology for disabled children.

Schools Are Overcrowded, and the Drop-Out Rates are Staggering

Usually, the smaller the class strength is, the better is the student experience. However, as per the observation of National Center for Education Statistics, it was found that 14% of the US are overcrowded. Thus, the students do not receive adequate attention in their primitive years of development.

Moreover, drop-out rates are alarming. Although people hold ‘money’ as the main criteria, it is not the same case everywhere. Even so, authoritative bodies are reluctant to act on this issue. As a result, certain members of the African-American community, Hispanics and the indigenous people remain stuck in the poverty cycle.

Lack of Initiatives in the Field of ‘Teacher Education’

Change needs to happen on all fronts. If the students have to change, so do the teachers. They need to upgrade themselves to the latest standards. Most importantly, the teachers should be oriented with the latest paradigms to reflect the demands of the modern K-12 and public schools’ classrooms. Teachers need to understand the significance of distance learning, communication, imparting lessons, completing the syllabus on time.

They need to comprehend the methods for mapping students’ minds and to offer feedback. The concerned should look forward to changing the dilapidated training methods and incorporate advanced modules. If the teachers are properly trained, then the future of American education will be more secure.

Parents Remain Aloof

Not only the children, teacher or academic modules are to be held responsible, but also the parents. The classroom session is not sufficient for the students to get to the bottom of the subject matter. They need guidance at home, and parents should do it themselves, or they should hire professional experts for providing essay help.

However, parents remain engrossed in their daily tasks (a common spectacle in the middle and upper-class families). And, even if they have time, they are not enthusiastic about looking into the requirements of their children. They feel that their kids are in good hands.

As you can imagine, students are the victims of poor supervision, imperfect education system and other governmental steps. Thus, it is time that steps are taken to address the above-mentioned issues.

What Measures Should be Adopted Now?

Here, we will look at the steps that need to be put into effect immediately to recover the dying education system

High-Quality Early Childhood Education

The focus should be on the standard of education at the grass root level all the way up to the high school and college education. Often, the primitive years of the students are overlooked, which gives rise to numerous problems later in life. Thus, all students should have access till middle school level education.

Teacher Training

The teachers should be trained as per the latest requirements. They should be familiar with teaching styles, understanding student psychology, paper assessment, and handling other tasks. Moreover, it is the duty of the teachers to stay updated with the subject matter.

Limited Access to the Internet

It is up to the parents and teachers to restrict Internet usage among children. There are a couple of options through which they can accomplish this- Google Family Link and Parental Router settings. Thus, they can set the timings, the websites the children can access and much more.

Increased Funding

Concerned authorities and government bodies should ensure that there is an increase in funding. NGOs should look after the needs of underprivileged children. If you look up savethechildren.org or childfund.org, you will be happy to know that steps are being taken to look after the issue.

If you include these points in your paper, your paper will definitely stand out from the rest of the class. You can also conduct a bit more research, and acquire resources from the journals, blog posts, websites, etc. If you are unable to do so, you should take the help of the paper writers.
