However, growing an art business is neither quick nor easy, and it takes much time to create numerous arts to generate a supportable income. Here a few tips that would help you acquire your goals of marketing art smoothly.

  1. Explore your art

Potentially you put all your efforts into creating the best art. Schedule a time to create art every day or every week and make art regularly. With regular practice, try to sharpen your skills. Always look for methods to refine your artwork and acquire new skills. If required, take guidance from a professional artist coach. The more you will create artwork regularly, the more you’ll discover the category of artwork you would love to make. Understanding your preference for a particular art category and a drawing style is the first important step towards successful art marketing

You must love the work you create if you wish the audience to love it. You have to be passionate about the artwork and show the commitment to hard work and long hours, which will lead you towards success. These things become simple if you love what you create. This will simultaneously bring in collectors and many audiences as well.

  1. Money Matters

You may find this step to be insensitive, but it is super important. If your audience doesn’t have the money, they won’t be able to buy your paintings. It doesn’t matter how much your audience is in love with it! Art is a luxury; therefore, you should market your paintings to an audience with a sufficient amount of money, mainly if you are willing to sell your original artwork!

If people in the core target audience don’t have sufficient income to afford an artwork or are not interested in buying it, you should pursue some other audience. The people from your core market would surely know other people who care to buy art. However, ensure to market your artworks only to those who can buy them.

  1. Concentric Customer Circles

This is a challenging yet significant step towards art marketing. After you figure out your favorite category of art, you must spot the audience interested in that artwork category. Start by imagining all the possible collectors and placing them in the center of concentric circles. For example, if you like lions and love painting realistic-style lions, the audience whom realistic paintings and lions interest would feature in the innermost circle. This becomes your core target.

The second larger circle would consist of people who share not all but similar interests. You should consider them as your market too. However, don’t regard them as your core target. Also, keep in mind- the more the people are away from the core target, there is a lesser possibility of them becoming buyers or collectors. This means the return on investment would probably be less. This method of concentric circles would help you strategize your money and time effectively.

  1. Start with ‘Your’ Area

Promoting artworks on social media platforms is an excellent idea. However, despite having the ability to reach worldwide, social media wouldn’t help sell your paintings. You can grow your art business better by starting from the land where you reside, as it is the place where people recognize you and your artworks. Start to sell and impress locals with your work. This will further lead to the selling of your artworks faster than through social media.

  1. Connect with your buyers

You must be able to tell the buyer why they should be interested in your artwork. Why should they purchase a particular painting? What is the advantage of buying your artwork? Come up with better answers and keep them ready before you get in touch with the buyer, and you’ll be most likely to sell a piece.

While focusing on your target audience, it is crucial to keep in mind not just thinking about selling the art all the time. You must be able to offer them what they want- how it would add value to their lives, apart from artworks. Offer tutorials on various artistic skills and techniques, aware of your creative process. This will help them acquire the precious information that they are looking for.
