Joint Entrance Examination has been postponed to 1st week of September, i.e. 1st to 6th September 2020. Candidates who will crack the examination with top scores and ranks in JEE Main shall be eligible to appear further for JEE Advanced. Even after the new JEE Main Exam Dates were released there was a petition filed at Supreme Court to postpone the exam further. But on 17th August the Supreme Court rejected the plea and gave a verdict in favour of conducting the exam as per schedule. With the JEE Main Exam Dates nearing, it is important to be aware of certain guidelines on Dress Code, Things to Do and Not to Do. So, let’s discuss them here.
NTA has now announced the new JEE Main Exam Dates, which are from 1st – 6th September 2020. The JEE Main Admit Card is available on the official website now after the Supreme Court verdict on a plea filed by some parents and students. The exam board has hence laid down certain rules; they are:
Few guidelines are mandatory to be followed strictly on the JEE Main Exam Dates:
A candidate with diabetes should let the board know before the JEE Main Exam Dates in prior. For diabetic aspirants, with proper documents and permission, authorities will allow them to carry certain edible items such as sugar tablets, fruits (banana/apple/orange) and transparent water bottles with water on the JEE Main Exam Dates. However, the board has restricted candidates from carrying packed foods such as chocolate, candy, sandwich into the examination hall.
Candidates shall not be allowed from carrying packed items inside the examination hall. Authorities do not allow candidates to carry any electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, wristwatches, electric goggles, smartwatches, calculators. Candidates with any textual materials, bits, paper, side rules, log tables and docu pen shall not enter the examination hall.
Candidates caught carrying any of the items mentioned above shall be treated as unfair means and further would be restricted to take up the exam and debarred from applying for it in future.
The board has set no strict dress code for the candidates while appearing on the JEE Main Exam Dates. However, a candidate must keep the following points in mind during the examination day:
For male candidates – Candidates shall be prohibited from wearing clothes attached with metal that causes trouble during the frisking process. Candidates taking up the examination must wear clothes with no / fewer pockets. Candidates shall further be restricted from wearing a cap, muffler, beanie over their head. Any kind of expensive jewellery or ornaments shall be considered as a violation of rules.
For female candidates – Candidates appearing on the JEE Main Exam Dates should avoid wearing a stole, dupatta or scarf. Any kind of expensive jewellery or ornaments shall be considered as a violation of rules. The board strictly restricts candidates from having any metal objects attached to their bodies or clothes. Candidates must ensure to wear lighter clothes with fewer or no pockets at all.
The situation now hasn’t been favourable. Therefore the NTA has set up a few guidelines and precautions to be followed during the day of the exam.
Maintenance of social distancing – All candidates appearing on the JEE Main Exam Dates should strictly maintain social distancing and stay at least 6 metres away from each other. Candidates must avoid touching items inside and outside the examination hall.
Parents should avoid gathering at the centres: Parents of candidates must avoid accompanying the candidates to the examination centre. Parents must ensure to not stay at the examination centre, causing a massive gathering in front of the examination venue. These measures have been taken to avoid overcrowding and spread of diseases.
Safety measures to be taken by NTA – Candidates appearing for the examination shall be provided with hand sanitiser. The exam shall be conducted with follow up with strict social distancing.
Self precautions – All candidates shall have to wear masks and gloves on the JEE Main Exam Dates, and while entering the examination centre.
