Business cards are the best marketing tool for your business. If you correctly design them, it can help your prospects remember the first time they met you, and help them get in touch with you when needed.

A carefully and professionally designed business card is part of your brand, establishing its identity further. A visiting card helps you make new clients and keep in touch with old ones. Thus, you must design them in a way that is appealing and balanced. You don’t want to add too much information, but you want to ensure that you add all the important details.

Focus on negative space, bold text, color theme, how to use the backspace, and so on. If you stay true to this, it will be easy for you to design a memorable and functional business card. Also, keep in mind the size of your card, it should be something that people can fit in their wallet and pockets easily. Don’t go overboard with the size or information.

In this article, we will discuss what information we should place on a business card and how to place it.

Information to include in your visiting card

1. Logo

A logo is the identity of your brand. In a way, a logo represents your business and what it stands for visually. Most brands have a logo which they design keeping in mind their business and its mission, and goals.

It is important to include your logo in your visiting card so that your clients can recognize your business from just the image. There are three types of logo:

A wordmark or written name is the representation of your business in a name like Google.

A monogram is another way to represent your brand. It uses the initials of the business creatively to use it as a logo. You can use any online tools like Canva to design a logo.

The symbol represents the business in shape or an abstract way.

Some tips:

  • The image used in the card should be 300dpi
  • The logo should be scalable
  • The space between the logo and text should be there

 2. Tagline

Every business must have a tagline which represents the mission or goal they have in their mind. A tagline is also a part of your brand’s extended identity which helps people recognize your brand and so on.

Add the tagline below the logo, and make sure it is visible.

It needs to be crisp and short and in contrast with the color used in the background of the card. Six words or less is the mantra that you should follow while writing a tagline.

3. Name of the company

The name of your company or brand is the most essential part of your card. It is the one thing that people need to remember so that they can contact you. It should get the biggest space in the card. Make it bold, and let it stand out from the rest of the content.

4. Your name and designation

A visiting card is your introduction to the person who you are meeting. They need to know who they should call if they need to work with your brand. So, put your name on the card- use the name that you identify with. Also, underneath the name, put your designation as well.

A person who has your card should know what your job title is. Are you a videographer, content writer, a photographer, or so on?

Don’t write CEO or founder, because it doesn’t say what your actual job is, and how a person should move forward. This tip is especially important for entrepreneurs, small business owners, and freelancers. You can put this information on the backside of the card.

5. Name of the website

If you have a website for your business, include it on the card. You don’t have to write the whole HTTP thing, but the main site name should be there.

Also, keep in mind that if you have a website you need to incorporate its theme in the card. Don’t make them different otherwise, there would be no consistency.

6. Contact details

You want people to call you for doing business with you? Then put in your contact details. Add your phone number, the work number that you answer directly, you don’t have to include your private number. Also, add your email address, it is important.

When it comes to adding a physical address, it depends on your business type. If you have a shop like a studio for a photographer or a physical store from where you work, adding it is crucial. If not, you can very well skip it.

7. Social media handles

Being present on social media is important. It is a great way to connect with your clients and customers. It is even more important to add your social media handles or username on the visiting card. It will help the prospects connect with you digitally.

Once you have all the details, it will become easy to place them. You can also use Canva to design your business card.
