5 Best Cities in New England for Foodies

New England has so many great spots for amazing food that an issue isn’t finding where to eat, no matter which city you are in, but actually deciding among all the great options in front of you. When even looking at one city, it’s hard enough to choose a restaurant, so it’s understandable that some of us are feeling a little overwhelmed as to where to choose to visit or even more to.

When looking for Boston houses for sale, who knew that the most important thing would be what restaurants the houses are close to? Above all else, that’s just how it is in New England. If you are feeling stuck on where to vacation or even relocate to, here’s a few cities that’ll each be heaven for food lovers among us.

Great Barrington, MA

Certain foodies think nothing beats getting as organic and natural as possible. If that’s right up your alley, Great Barrington is not a place to miss. It’s the perfect city for those looking to eat as locally as possible because they know that’s how you are going to get the best flavors. Whether you are going to Guido’s Fresh Marketplace or eating out, it’s hard to beat the freshness you’ll find here.

New Haven, CT

If pizza is all you have on the brain, don’t miss out on New Haven. Sure, you can get a decent slice in every city, but it’s something special here. Just like other cities, think NYC or Chicago, New Haven has a style all its own. What locals refer to as ”apizza” is typically thin crust and over-fried to the point of a light charing paired with a layer of mozzarella on top. Every local has their favorite place, so you’ll have to spend at least a weekend there to see which you like best.

Boston, MA

As Boston was mentioned earlier, it should be no surprise it’s on the list. It’s a great city for those who love it all and the best way to tackle it is not looking at the city as a whole but at its neighborhoods. Head to the North End if you are interested in Italian, be it traditional fare or just pizza. The Seaport District is perfect for those curious about all the up and coming chains while Dorchester is where you’ll want to head if you are looking to explore dishes you might not have heard of before.

Portsmouth, NH

Portsmouth isn’t afraid to take advantage of its closeness to the sea and that’s enough to make any foodie at least stop through town. That’s quite the selling point but don’t feel like that’s the only thing on offer. There’s also plenty of fresh produce nearby allowing for meals focusing on either seafood or fresh fruits and veggies to be as fresh and exciting as possible.

Portland, ME

Another great option for those looking to find a city that can do it all.  There’s plenty of choice for those looking to have the classic pub experience or a night out at a dimly lit bar. For the early birds, Portland is home to what are considered some of the best bakeries anywhere on the coast.
